What is PLUR?

PLUR is not just our values, but the values of the rave scene as a whole. The concept of PLUR started in the 90s and became the guiding principles of rave culture in the US.

PLUR stands for Peace, Love, Unity and Respect. Here's what PLUR means to us at Raven:

Peace

We all need to do our best to get along. Like when you're at a rave and someone bumps into you, take a moment to consider that it may have been an accident. Shoving them or yelling at them will only escalate things and make the situation worse. Instead, politely ask them to be more mindful of their space.

Love

You don't have to love everyone you interact with, but you need to at least care for the people around you. If you see someone who looks like they might need help, take a moment to check on them and see if they're ok. You might save their life.

Unity

Although we might look and sound different from each other or speak different languages, none of that matters in the rave scene. As long as you're coming to raves for the right reasons, you are welcome in the rave community. We must strive to make the rave scene the most inclusive community it can be.

Respect

In our opinion, this is the single most important rule of raving. Any time you interact with another person inside or outside of a rave, you should always treat other people with respect (assuming they deserve your respect, which most people do). Be considerate of the people around you and make sure that your fun doesn't come at the expense of anyone else's fun. Lastly, for all interactions with other ravers, make sure you get consent first, no matter what you're doing. Ask if it's ok to take a photo or video of them, ask if they mind switching spots with you, and definitely ask if you want to dance with someone.

Although these guidelines were developed for raving, they can also be applied outside of raves as well. We use these principles to guide our business decisions, community guidelines, and how we interact with you as a member of the Raven community. For example, we strive to make the Raven community as inclusive as the rave community. And we require that all Raven users treat each other with respect on the platform, just as we'll always treat you with respect. And we care about you, and we hope you care about your fellow ravers online.
