TERMS OF SERVICE

Terms of Service

Last updated: May 22, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Raven for using the app. Plain English where possible; the legal language sticks around because it has to.

The basics

"Raven" means the Raven mobile app and the keepraven.com website, operated by the company behind Raven, based in Boston, MA ("we," "us," "our"). "You" means the person using the app.

By creating an account or using Raven, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use Raven.

Who can use Raven

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must not have been previously banned from Raven.
  • You must use a real, single account that's yours. No impersonation, no bot accounts, no selling or transferring accounts.
  • You're responsible for your account and anything that happens through it. If your account is compromised, tell us at support@keepraven.com.

Usernames and tags

Raven assigns usernames and other handles ("tags" — including group tags) on a first-come, first-served basis. You don't own your username or tag. We license it to you for use on Raven for as long as your account is in good standing, and we may reclaim, change, or reassign it at any time. In particular, we may reclaim a tag if:

  • It belongs to or is closely associated with another person, artist, venue, group, or brand and the account holder isn't that person or doesn't have their permission;
  • The account is being used to impersonate the entity the tag refers to;
  • The tag is being held inactive in an apparent attempt to keep it from someone else, or is being offered for sale, transfer, or trade — none of which are permitted on Raven;
  • We receive a credible trademark or right-of-publicity complaint about the tag; or
  • We otherwise determine the tag should be reassigned for the integrity of the platform.

Tags are not transferable. You may not sell, rent, or ransom a tag, and any attempt to do so is grounds for account termination and reassignment of the tag at our discretion. If we reclaim a tag from you, we'll assign you a replacement username so your account stays usable.

Your content

"Your content" means anything you post on Raven — profile info, posts, photos, videos, comments, messages, group descriptions, and so on.

You keep ownership of your content. You give Raven a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, display, reproduce, and modify (e.g. resize images, transcode video, generate thumbnails) your content for the purpose of operating and improving the app. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except where the content is preserved for safety reasons (see Section 8).

You're responsible for your content. By posting, you represent that:

  • You have the right to post it.
  • It doesn't infringe anyone's intellectual property rights, privacy, or publicity rights.
  • It complies with the rules in Section 4 below.

What you can't do

Raven has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. Don't post, send, or share content of any of the following kinds, and don't behave toward other users in any of these ways. Violations result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban — usually without warning.

Harassment, bullying, and stalking

  • No harassment, bullying, or trolling of any user, group, or community on Raven. This includes coordinated pile-ons, repeated unwanted contact, brigading, and "hate raids."
  • No stalking — repeatedly contacting, following, or monitoring a user against their wishes, including through alt accounts after being blocked.
  • No sexual harassment — unwanted sexual messages, unsolicited sexual images, or persistent sexual advances.
  • No doxxing — publishing or threatening to publish someone's real name, home or work address, phone number, employer, ID documents, immigration status, or any other personal information they haven't chosen to share, without their consent.
  • No non-consensual intimate imagery ("revenge porn") — sharing or threatening to share private sexual or nude images without the depicted person's consent. This applies to AI-generated and edited images as well.

Threats and violence

  • No threats of violence against any person, group, or place — direct, implied, conditional, or "joking."
  • No incitement of violence or promotion of violence, including praising, celebrating, or memorializing perpetrators of mass violence.
  • No terrorism or violent extremism — recruitment for, glorification of, or coordination with violent extremist groups or designated terrorist organizations.
  • No self-harm or suicide promotion. Discussing your own struggles is fine; encouraging others to harm themselves is not.
  • No graphic violence or gore for shock value. Newsworthy reporting on violence is allowed only with appropriate context and not as the central focus of a post.
  • No animal cruelty content.

Hate speech and discrimination

  • No hate speech — content that attacks, dehumanizes, or promotes hatred against people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, religion, disability, age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, serious illness, immigration status, or veteran status.
  • No slurs directed at members of any of the above groups.
  • No hateful symbols, imagery, or propaganda — Nazi imagery, Confederate iconography used to glorify the Confederacy, or equivalent material from other supremacist movements.
  • No denial or trivialization of historical atrocities (Holocaust, slavery, genocides).

Sexual content and nudity

  • No sexual content involving minors, under any circumstances, including drawn, animated, or AI-generated depictions. We report this to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) as required by US law.
  • No nudity, pornographic content, or sexually explicit material. Raven is not an adult-content platform.
  • No sexual solicitation — soliciting sex, sexual partners, or sexual chat from other users.
  • No commercial sexual services — prostitution, escort services, or links to adult content sites.

Illegal activity and dangerous goods

  • No using Raven to plan, coordinate, or commit a crime — fraud, theft, assault, trafficking, or anything else illegal where you live or where the people you're communicating with live.
  • No buying, selling, trading, or coordinating regulated or illegal goods — drugs (including prescription drugs outside a legitimate medical context), firearms, explosives, counterfeit goods, stolen property, or human remains.
  • No scams, fraud, or financial deception — phishing, investment scams, fake giveaways, counterfeit ticket sales, romance scams.
  • No distributing malware or links to malware, phishing pages, or other harmful software.
  • No infringing on someone's intellectual property — don't post copyrighted music, video, or images you don't have rights to, and don't post counterfeit or pirated material.

Account and platform integrity

  • No impersonating another person, brand, organization, or Raven itself in a misleading way.
  • No spam — bulk messaging, automated posting, engagement farming, repetitive cross-posting, or otherwise flooding the service.
  • No circumventing bans, account suspensions, blocks from other users, rate limits, or moderation decisions — including by creating alt accounts.
  • No reverse-engineering, scraping, or interfering with Raven's infrastructure, including bypassing moderation, accessing parts of the system you weren't granted access to, or probing for vulnerabilities outside a coordinated disclosure process.
  • No commercial use we haven't authorized — no advertising, no promoted posts, no paid shoutouts, no ticket-scalping, no recruiting for paid services.
  • No paid or incentivized reviews — don't accept money, free tickets, merch, comped drinks, guest-list spots, or any other compensation in exchange for posting a positive review (or for taking down a negative one). Reviews on Raven must be your own honest opinion, not influenced by financial or other incentives, and the same applies to comments and posts that function as reviews.
  • No posting links outside the allowlist. Posts may only link to Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, or YouTube; don't try to evade this with link shorteners, redirects, or text substitution.

This list isn't exhaustive. We may remove content or take action against accounts for behavior we judge to violate the spirit of these rules even if it isn't explicitly listed above. If you see content that violates these rules, use the in-app report option on the post, comment, message, or profile.

Reports and moderation

Anyone can report a user, post, comment, or review from the relevant screen in the app. Reports go to a staff-only review queue, where we may:

  • Dismiss the report,
  • Hide the reported content,
  • Ban the reported user, or
  • Take other action we judge appropriate.

We don't promise a particular response time and we don't guarantee that every report leads to action. Our moderation decisions are at our discretion. Banned users can't sign in or interact, and their existing content is hidden app-wide.

Photos and videos pass through automated content moderation (AWS Rekognition) before they're visible to other users. If our moderation pipeline rejects a post, the post won't be published. False positives are possible — if you think your post was rejected incorrectly, email support@keepraven.com.

Direct messages and group chats

Direct messages between users and group-chat messages are not end-to-end encrypted. Raven can read messages on its servers when required for moderation, abuse investigation, legal compliance, or technical operation of the service. Don't use Raven for communications you'd want to be private from us. We are not a substitute for a journalist, lawyer, or therapist's confidential channel.

Tickets, events, and links to outside services

Raven shows information about live-music events and may link to ticket vendors and other external sites. We don't sell tickets ourselves and we're not responsible for transactions you make on those external sites — that's between you and the vendor. Verify the event details and refund policy on the vendor's site before you buy.

Account deletion and data we keep

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account Settings → Delete Account. The Privacy Policy describes exactly what's deleted and what remains.

We retain a small amount of data after account deletion when we have a legitimate reason to:

  • Reports and moderation history — reports filed by or about you stay in our system so we can detect repeat-offender patterns. Your name and profile are removed from those records.
  • Group-chat messages stay visible to the other members so the conversation context is preserved; your sender attribution is replaced with "[deleted user]."
  • Groups and events you created remain so other people using them aren't disrupted. Your "creator" attribution is removed.
  • Records we're legally required to keep (e.g. CSAM reports we forward to NCMEC).

Suspension and termination by us

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if we believe you've broken these Terms, you've put other users at risk, or we're legally required to. In most cases we'll give you notice and a chance to fix the issue, but we don't have to in serious cases (e.g. CSAM, threats of violence, ongoing harassment).

Changes to the app and these Terms

We're a small team, and the app will change. We may add, remove, or change features without notice. We may also change these Terms; when we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Raven after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

Disclaimers

Raven is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We don't warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, and we don't warrant the accuracy of event information, ticket links, or user-generated content.

We don't endorse, control, or take responsibility for user-generated content. Users are solely responsible for what they post.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Raven and its officers, employees, and contractors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or substitute services, arising from or related to your use of the app — even if we've been advised of the possibility of those damages.

Our total liability for any claim related to these Terms or your use of Raven is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid Raven in the 12 months before the claim or (b) USD $100. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations; in those places, this section applies to the fullest extent permitted.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Raven harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or damage (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your content, your use of the app, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of someone else's rights.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that we can't resolve informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Suffolk County, Massachusetts, and you consent to their exclusive jurisdiction.

Before filing a lawsuit, please email support@keepraven.com and give us 30 days to try to resolve the dispute.

Miscellaneous

  • Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Raven.
  • Severability. If any part of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
  • No waiver. If we don't enforce a provision, that doesn't mean we've waived it.
  • Assignment. You can't assign these Terms; we can, in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • Apple App Store users. If you got Raven through the Apple App Store, the App Store EULA also applies. Apple has no obligation to furnish support or maintenance for Raven, isn't responsible for product warranties, and isn't a party to these Terms — but Apple is a third-party beneficiary and may enforce these Terms against you.
